If you had to guess how many cannabinoids are found within the cannabis plant, what number would you go with? If you guessed over 100, you nailed it! Based on the relatively limited research that has been conducted on cannabinoids so far, scientists have already identified over 100 phyto-cannabinoids (cannabinoids found within the cannabis plant), according to Medical Jane findings. Out of these phyto-cannabinoids, the ones that have gained the most attention are THC and CBD. However, other phyto-cannabinoids that have made recent waves in the medical world include CBN, THCV, and cannabigerol (or CBG for short). Keep reading to find out more about CBG in particular, its health benefits, and which cannabis products contain CBG.

It seems like research is once again on the side of marijuana. However, let’s not assume everything is perfect.

The federal government continues to limit research on marijuana and the individual benefits of its strains. As the industry grows, leaders do their best to make sure cannabis gets the name it deserves. It’s up to us, the consumers, to help make sure accurate information is spread from seed to ingestion. Because it’s a guarantee that those who are against legalization will use inaccurate information to defend their case.

In the early 1990s, ethnobotanist Terence McKenna released his 'Stoned Ape Hypothesis', also known as the 'Stoned Ape Theory,' in the book Food of the Gods. At the time, such a profound and likely unprovable hypothesis had been seen by the broad scientific community as the ramblings and poetic conjecture of a psychedelic fanatic. This is not to say, however, that the book and the “stoned ape theory” failed to make their way into pockets of human society, or that McKenna's findings were entirely shrugged off. As we will see, they were anything but.
