Medical marijuana is now legal in Maryland, and people with certain conditions and a recommendation from their physician can use cannabis for treatment as of December 1. The Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission will be responsible for regulating Maryland's marijuana laws to ensure that medical marijuana is safe and available for patients. The MMCC is also in charge of registration, licensing, inspection, and laboratory testing for the cannabis program, as well as providing information on Maryland's marijuana laws. Let’s take a look at some of the legal and practical specifics surrounding Maryland’s new favorite plant.

Much like Colorado and Washington, the introduction of a legal marijuana market in Oregon has been generating millions in tax revenues and created thousands of jobs. Though revenues from marijuana sales continue to grow, one thing has not: the price. In fact, in places where you can buy weed legally, prices seem to have gone down, sometimes significantly. Those of us buying an ounce of weed in Portland have seen this price trend in action. And while marijuana can be bought in various shapes, forms, and quantities, an ounce (28 grams) is the maximum amount of flower recreational consumers can purchase or possess in Oregon.

One of the more interesting things about marijuana is the sheer variety of strains available. Each one has a different effect and medicinal purpose, not to mention smells and tastes. It is rare, in today’s world, to find any original strains on the market. They are still out there, but are usually used in most grows to cross their genetics with other superior genetics. In today’s market, there are a ton of different strains due to all of the crosses that have been made. This has caused a lot of strains to have similar features to flowers further back in their lineage, but with a modern twist.

As marijuana use in the US continues to be seen as less socially and legally taboo, both medical and recreational marijuana markets are being adjusted to further protect public health. Laboratory testing is increasingly becoming a requirement for marijuana or marijuana-infused product manufacturers, leading consumers into a retail environment where the potency of various plant compounds, known as cannabinoids, are represented in percentages. THCa and THC are the two cannabinoids most directly linked to the “high” users receive after smoking or otherwise heating raw or dried marijuana, but what is the difference?

The federal government's prohibition on marijuana poses a wide range of problems. From the injustices of cannabis incarceration (especially for POC) to the restriction of medical relief for patients to the growth of an illegal drug market that benefits drug cartels, organized crime, and gangs, national marijuana laws are understatedly problematic.

To say Las Vegas is a popular tourist location would be a hilarious understatement. Each year, Las Vegas experiences around 43 million visitors. Although Las Vegas is a common spot to drink, party, and celebrate different occasions, the city has recently become a cannabis hub because of the number of retail recreational dispensaries scattered throughout the state. These dispensaries have experienced much success since Nevada's recreational cannabis program went into effect this past January. Although anyone over the age of 21 can legally purchase and possess cannabis, they cannot legally consume cannabis in public, which raises the question of where you can safely and legally consume cannabis. Read on to discover discreet ways to consume cannabis and where you can legally light up.

Marijuana has a vast variety of health benefits that are being studied and unlocked by scientists worldwide. The Journal of Alzheimer's Disease released a study in 2014 that concluded microdoses of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) slow down the production of a protein called beta-amyloid proteins. Experts believe that beta-amyloid proteins are the key to preventing the progression of Alzheimer's. The study was conducted by the University of South Florida's College of Medicine in Tampa.
