Tangie is one of the cannabis strains bred with fan-favorite Tangerine Dream strain in mind. The minds at DNA Genetics revealed Tangie in the mid-1990s, during Tangerine Dream's peak, as a sort of tribute strain crossed with the strain Skunk #1, increase the citrus and funk aromatics. The sativa-leaning hybrid, however, makes a name for itself with its clear-headed and happy high. For recreational consumers, Tangie provides a punchy, energetic high. This strain is ideal for beginners and veteran smokers alike, thanks to it's amenable and manageable effects.

Overview of Tangie

Tangie, though inspired by the legendary Tangerine Dream strain, is a hybrid that stands on its own. This sativa dominant hybrid was bred in the 1990's and has become a sought-after strain from the Dutch seed bank. Genetically, the hybrid breaks down as a 30 percent indica and 70 percent sativa. Tangie is known for its refreshing citrus scent, derived from high levels of limonene, and sticky nugs coated in thick trichomes and bright orange hairs.

The nugs grow in a typical sativa shape and appear conical. Due to its indica genetics, the strain will have some of the earthiness of skunk strains. Tangie herb should demonstrate lighter green tones in compact, tight flower with a noticeably covered resinous layer of frosty trichomes. The aroma is one of sweet orange, deep skunkiness, and a slight woody spice that keeps things interesting.

THC levels fluctuate between 19 percent and 22 percent for Tangie varieties. Its CBD content is negligible and rarely reaches one percent.

Potential Positive Effects of Tangie

Due to the strain's strong sativa genetics, Tangie produces an energetic and euphoric high. The strain's strong cerebral properties, including happiness, improved creativity, and focus, are favored among recreational communities. Tangie manages to get the consumer sufficiently stoned without knocking out their awareness or attention. This cannabis strain is ideally suited to boosting workouts, enhancing creative problem solving, and just having a good time.

Potential Negative Effects of Tangie

Tangie isn't well-suited to completely sedentary activities like watching TV or staring at the ceiling. It works best as a creative or cognitive aid and may cause unwanted racing thoughts if you're not intentionally directing your mental energy. The most commonly reported side effects from smoking Tangie are dry, red eyes and dry mouth. Few patients have experienced dizziness, headaches, and anxiety when consuming too much Tangie. Experienced consumers suggest smoking Tangie in the morning or the afternoon.

Lineage of Tangie

Tangie first came onto the cannabis scene in the mid-1990s, at the height of Tangerine Dream's popularity. DNA Genetics bred the strain from California Orange and a Skunk strain. The strain was kept under wraps until a breeder named Crockett shared their bounty with the Dutch growers.

Growing Tangie

Tangie plants take between nine and ten weeks to flower. DNA Genetics recommends growing the strain outside, as it blooms late in the season around early October. The strain grows remarkably tall and will continue to grow well into the fifth week of its flowering period. Tangie plants produce plenty of resinous flowers - with the signature citrus aroma - and can yield up to 550 grams per square meter of plant. DNA Genetics recommends growing the plant in soil for best results.

Where to Find Tangie

Tangie is a West Coast darling, and you should be able to find it easily in Washington, Oregon, and California.
