We can all agree that tea is pretty delicious on its own, but marijuana tea is just the bee’s knees. There are so many ways to enjoy cannabis this day and age; smoking the flowers or concentrates, eating edibles, or using tinctures. However, very few people actually know what marijuana tea is and fewer still have actually given it a chance. Here’s a bit of background information, and then some insight on how to make weed tea. Take a look:
Tea has plenty of health benefits, and marijuana definitely has a ton of its own. The marijuana tea eliminates the potential health risks from smoking the actual herb, and is very useful for people with respiratory ailments since there is no coughing involved.
People have been using this stuff for years in almost every culture you can think of. Some for medicine, some for the high, and some for ceremonies. The oldest records of marijuana tea come from India. In India cannabis tea is referred to as Bhang, which is tea mixed with cannabis. It’s mainly a ceremonial drink.
Also, predominantly used in Jamaica, this tea (known as ganja tea) is strictly medicinal. It was traditionally used for pregnant women to combat the adverse side effects of morning sickness. However, this tea is made from the young cannabis plant, and isn’t meant to get you stoned. It’s meant to help you absorb the other medicinal cannabinoids and boost your immune system.
Queen Victoria of England was prescribed marijuana tea to treat her menstrual cramps.
The Dutch also did a study recently to measure all of the benefits that come from marijuana tea:
“Cannabis is one of the oldest known medicinal plants, and a large variety of biological activities have been described. The main constituents, the cannabinoids, are thought to be most important for these activities. Although smoking of cannabis is by far the most common way of consumption, a significant part of medicinal users consume it in the form of a tea. However, not much is known about the composition of cannabis tea, or the effect of different parameters during preparation, handling or storage. In this study we used the high-grade cannabis available in Dutch pharmacies to study the cannabinoid composition of tea under standardized and quantitative conditions.”
Marijuana tea has become more and more accepted as weed has been legalized, and it’s now currently being used to treat many more adverse health conditions. Even places where weed is legalized, marijuana tea is still considered a much healthier alternative to smoking directly.
Marijuana tea is different from smoking up by a long shot. Like edibles, marijuana tea is absorbed through the digestive tract, and can take a few minutes to take effect. However, this effect lasts over eight hours. This is an excellent attribute for people who use marijuana to treat chronic pains or stomach problems.
If you’re a little anxious to smoke weed to cure your anxiety, weed tea may be right up your alley because it’s a much milder effect that smoking or eating edibles since it’s a bit less potent. Tea itself is a pretty relaxing thing to drink or even hold in your hands. The addition of small amounts of THC along with the other medically beneficial cannabinoids benefits folks in more ways than one.
Some people really love the taste of tea, and some don’t. Marijuana tea can be dressed up or left alone much like any other tea out there.
