Marijuana Legalization: States That Legalized Weed in 2016

Last year was a tremendous year for marijuana legalization as nine marijuana legalizationstates officially legalized it. Imagine, only two decades ago, the majority of Americans perceived marijuana as a drug that shouldn’t be legalized, but with science advancing at an unprecedented rate, studies are changing public opinion concerning the drug on a day-by-day basis. When I moved back to Washington State from California, it was simply amazing to see stores poppin’ up all around Seattle. When I last visited, in 2012, people were still being prosecuted for low-level marijuana crimes – upon return, I felt a sense of vindication for the people of Washington, and, of course, for those whose charges were dropped by the governor. Now, we here at Leafbuyer are going to do a brief overview of what some of the states that legalized marijuana by revealing the specifics of the laws.

This act is fundamentally changing Maine marijuana laws forever. For a voting population of nearly 760,000, this meant the popular choice to legalize marijuana was decided by less than 4,000 individuals. The state saw the slim margin of passage as a reason to recount the vote and, ultimately, verified its passage.
