Although cannabis is an extremely unique plant that contains numerous medicinal properties and benefits, there are certain instances where you do just truly get too high. When this happens, you can feel uncomfortable, uneasy, and even paranoid or anxious depending on the situation. As compared to other consumption methods, cannabis edibles high in THC are the most common products that can be accidentally over-consumed. After ingesting cannabis edibles, the effects may not hit until an hour or several hours later. As a result, it's common for individuals to consume more pieces of the cannabis edible and/or a higher dosage in an effort to feel the effects at a faster rate. However, this isn't the best way to consume cannabis edibles, nor is this the safest. Let’s take a look at what to do after accidentally consuming too many cannabis edibles and/or too high of a dosage.

By rescinding the federal policy to refrain from enforcing federal law in states with legal marijuana, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has effectively terrified people who are invested in legal marijuana businesses. His actions may also prove to be beneficial for drug cartels if people are scared enough to avoid registering with the state and making themselves a target for arrest when Sessions starts his anticipated cannabis crackdown. The revoked federal policy, called the Cole Memo, was established to protect legalized states from federal prosecution.

As a society, we are so past the point where impaired driving is cool. Too many people have lost their lives due to the irresponsible choices of inebriated drivers getting behind the wheel of a car. Mothers Against Drunk Driving was founded in 1980, a year when nearly 25,000 people died as a result of intoxicated use of a vehicle. Since then, awareness has skyrocketed and death toll numbers have declined, though there is still some confusion in an area that is anywhere but grey.

Since states started legalizing marijuana, they have seen an increase in E.R. visits for marijuana effects. This affects the broader public perception of harm to be sure, but is it the full picture? Are there larger human behaviors at play? And what about political posturing? Today we will explore the relationship between legalizing recreational marijuana and the experiences or behaviors leading to the reported increase of cannabis-related emergency room visits.

A whole lot of people really love their pets, and a fair number of them also love marijuana. Can the two coexist? With legal marijuana on the rise and medical marijuana available in 29 states, a question we get a lot is: "Will weed harm my pet?" Most people instinctively know that cannabis isn't good for cats and dogs (or any other fuzzy or feathered companion), and they take measures to ensure that their pets aren't exposed to marijuana. But sometimes, accidents happen, and it's good to know what can occur when weed and pets mix.

The health benefits of cannabis have been well known for years by some, and they are starting to gain attention worldwide. There have been recent studies that indicate marijuana can effectively treat post-traumatic stress disorder and major depressive disorder. War veterans have been medicating with cannabis for its health benefits and have experienced significant relief from their symptoms. The governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, signed legislation recognizing cannabis as a treatment for PTSD this Veteran's Day, and even the FDA is recognizing the health benefits of marijuana.

September 2, 2017

New Zealand Weed NewsNew Zealand is having a bit of a cannabis drought. Like any other developed nation in the world, a portion of New Zealanders like drugs. The domestic scarcity of cannabis is, inadvertently, encouraging some of those Kiwis to try synthetic cannabis or other designer drugs. Also known as "legal highs," many of the substances are available through online sources and often are chemically designed to mimic the effects of the more popular intoxicants and party drugs. This week in weed news, we look back at the month of July in the archipelago nation, New Zealand, as the use of synthetic cannabis has caused an epidemic claiming ten (10) lives in a single month and put over a dozen more into hospital.
