How the Alcohol Industry Can Be a Part of Nevada's Booming Marijuana Industry

In the U.S., as of 2014, the beverage industry was valued at $354.2 billion, and 60 percent of that amount was due to alcoholic beverages. Specifically, the alcoholic beverage market raked in $211.6 billion in 2014. According to a report by Park Street Imports, around 20 percent of the volume of wine and spirits in America is sold in monopoly states like California, Florida, and New York. These figures demonstrate the vast amount of money the alcohol industry makes. However, the marijuana industry is significantly booming in its own right, and it won't stop anytime soon.

The Shortage of Marijuana in Massachusetts Explained

2016 was a monumental year, especially because of the progress made toward marijuana legalization in several U.S. states, including Massachusetts. Massachusetts has had a medical marijuana program in place since 2012, but as of 2016, 53.66 percent of voters voted 'yes' to allow adults aged 21 and above to purchase and possess recreational marijuana, according to CannabisNow. On November 8th, 2016, 55 percent of Nevada residents voted "yes" to recreational marijuana legalization, making them one of the eight U.S. states to allow legal recreational marijuana possession and usage for adults. However, Nevada's recreational marijuana law didn't go into effect until January 1st, 2017. Regardless, dispensary owners, marijuana producers and growers, and the state's government have been preparing for the significant boom that'll take place in the coming months and years. Specifically, according to theCannabist.co, Las Vegas alone drew in 40 million plus visitors last year. It's safe to say that Nevada's recreational marijuana program will be successful and accommodating to customers' needs and wants.
